Sanctuary Meyer Sound System Upgrade

MABE partnered with Burke Community Church in Burke, Virginia, to complete a full church sound system installation, replacing their existing system with a modern, high-performance audio solution. This upgrade focused on improving clarity, coverage, and consistency throughout the room while supporting both spoken-word and full-band worship.

System Overview

The new system was designed to deliver even coverage throughout the sanctuary while maintaining power and precision for both speech and music. By utilizing a combination of flown arrays, cardioid subwoofer configuration, and strategic fill placement, the system ensures a consistent listening experience in every seat.

Main Speaker System

At the core of the system are dual-flown arrays consisting of:

• (20) Meyer Sound LEOPARD line array loudspeakers (10 per side)
• Meyer Sound LEOPARD-M80 variants for optimized horizontal coverage

These arrays were carefully deployed to provide uniform coverage across the seating area. As a result, the system minimizes inconsistencies and improves intelligibility throughout the room.

Subwoofer System

To provide low-frequency impact while maintaining control on stage, the system includes:

• (4) Meyer Sound 2100-LFC subwoofers
• Configured in a flown cardioid end-fire array

This configuration directs low-frequency energy toward the audience while reducing unwanted bass on stage. As a result, the platform remains cleaner and more controlled for musicians and speakers.

Fill Coverage

To ensure complete coverage across all seating areas, additional loudspeakers were installed:

• Center Fill: Meyer Sound ULTRA-X40
• Out Fills: (2) Meyer Sound ULTRA-X42
• Front Fills: (4) Meyer Sound ULTRA-X20XP

These fills address coverage gaps in near-field and off-axis seating areas. Because of this, listeners experience a more consistent and natural sound throughout the sanctuary.

Processing & Control

The system is powered and managed by:

• Meyer Sound GALAXY processor for DSP and system control
• Integrated power and signal infrastructure

This allows for precise system tuning, reliable signal routing, and long-term performance.

Installation & Integration

As part of this project, MABE:

• Removed the existing EV line array system, fills, and amplifiers
• Installed all new rigging, cabling, and hardware required for the upgraded system
• Completed full system commissioning and tuning
• Provided training and first-service support for the team
