Bill Bailey’s Winter Gospel Music Convention 2019

Bill Bailey’s 2019 Winter Gospel Music Convention was nothing short of an exciting time for all those who attended. It was with great honor that MABE, for another year, was able to be apart and provide full AVL for such an amazing event. With nearly 30 groups over the course of six days, Gospel Music filled the air at the Bradenton Area Convention Center in Palmetto, Florida on February 4th through the 9th.
Each year MABE is requested to bring in the preferred audio PA consisting of the Meyer MSL-4 and CQ-1 loudspeakers. Having experienced various other loudspeakers, the client’s preferred request is always the warm, smooth sound of the Meyer MSL-4 over any other loudspeaker. MABE loves the opportunity to bring these boxes out into the field, as it truly is a great sounding PA. For front of house and monitors, Midas Pro 2s are used to mix each band. While a Pro2 is at FOH, the slightly smaller compact version, the Midas Pro2c sits in monitor stage side.
Lighting the stage are the Desisti 2k Fresnels which provide an even and smooth stage wash, but what really caught people’s eye was the stage design. Although simple, it really shined through. Hanging from an upstage truss were set pieces lit with Elation Design Brick 70s and Elation Opti Tri par, truly a workhorse of an LED Par. These set pieces surrounded a 20-foot-wide projection screen used for IMAG, graphics, and video playback. The projector used was a Panasonic PT-DW100U, a 10,000 lumen, 3 chip DLP projector.
