The Rock Family Church- Butler Campus

Rusty and Leisa Nelson moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 1999 to plant a new multi-cultural church called, The Rock Family Worship Center. Beginning with 13 people in their living room, The Rock Family Worship Center began to reach out into the community with love and compassion. The Church has grown to over 5000 with 5 Campuses.

They purchased the old Butler High School and planned to move the worship center in the old gymnasium. This project had a lot of logistical hurdles getting an old high school transformed into a space designed for a main sanctuary, meeting spaces, children’s rooms, etc. This building underwent extensive construction to make it work for the church’s needs and has transformed into a stunning space for Sunday services and the many outreach and events that take place throughout the year.  Mabe would like to thank Jimi Zink, the Media Pastor at The Rock who was a big part of the design and organization of the project. Mabe has worked with Jimi over the years on other projects throughout the United States.

AVL Phase One: This phase took place over a two-week span of time.  This consisted of pulling in all cables and rigging all the points for speakers, projection, lighting and anything else going in the ceiling.  Week two the team hung the RCF line arrays and 185 LED house light fixtures, projectors, and the core of the AVL systems. Mabe sent a team of five to complete this phase.

AVL Phase Two: This phase took place over a three-week span of time.  Much of this phase was the continuance of installing all AVL components making sure all equipment and infrastructure was in place. Then the last week was spent completing several thousand terminations of all the systems.

AVL Phase Three: Testing and programming.  This phase took a few days assuring that all AVL systems were up and running and that all volunteers and technical staff were comfortable with all systems.
